Rossikhan

Breeders of Burmese since 1982

I first saw a picture of a Blue Burmese in a book in May 1980 and have been “hooked” ever since.  John bought me my first Burmese, a blue boy in June 1980.  My first litter was born in 1982 and my prefix was registered the same year.

One of my first litters was out of Ch Ethereal Pollyanna, bred by Gill Toller and my own Ch Kimaross Silver Shazahn, bred by Shirley Cox and from this I kept a lilac female.  Pollyanna’s next litter was to the very handsome Bambino Chinchintarrou, bred by Barbara Boizard-Neil and owned by Verlie Clark.

It was this combination that worked so well and gave me a sound base on which to work.  With the invaluable help of Verlie my cats became more and more beautiful.  They looked exactly as I wanted them to and their temperament was sound.

Verlie allowed me to use the most handsome Ramree Jantan Warnaduku, Kiporia Miff and the excellent Ch Kiporia Far – believe me it was chocolate heaven.  Verlie also gave me Kiporia Bliss, a stunning brown female.

When I took Bliss’s daughter to Barbara Boizard-Neil’s Bambino Blue Chip the result was dreamy – 5 females in this litter which included Gr Ch & UK Gr Pr Rossikhan Velvetdream and Gr Ch Rossikhan Aphrodisiac.

Of course Hooray Henri’s children were a joy and included Gr Ch & Gr Pr Rossikhan Bon Ton, Gr Pr Rossikhan Snowleopard and UK Gr Ch & Gr Pr Rossikhan Velvetmist.

Roger Hitchen gave me Gr Ch Bambino Blue Czar and mated to my girls he produced Ch Rossikhan Pussy Willow and Gr Ch Molynmeux Deja Veux (bred for me by my good friend Ally Williams) and ultimately, and true to character, in his last litter for me he gave me Gr Ch Rossikhan Sonovzar.

It may appear at first sight that my cats cannot fail to win, but this is definitely not the case.  My cats look how I want them to look and I make no apologies for being biased, but it is a matter of personal taste and interpretation.  Burmese, as you will see at any cat show have a wide diversity in appearance.

On a personal note – I have been married to John since May 1980.  We met on the 10.11.78 and were engaged on the 24.11.78 – exactly two weeks after we first met.

Although my prefix is solely in my name nothing would have been possible without his unfailing support – so in every other respect the Rossikhan prefix is joint.
